Nursing Student Council: The School of Nursing Student Council serves as a liaison for communications between students and faculty, coordinates activities between classes and organizations within the School, and represents the School in campus-wide activities. The Council includes 15 members: 13 with voting privileges and two nonvoting faculty members. Each class is represented by two voting members, who are chosen by petition and class election. Officers of the Council are president, vice president and secretary-treasurer.
Purdue Student Nurses Association (PSNA): PSNA is a local chapter of both the Indiana Association for Nursing Students (IANS) and the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). The purpose of PSNA is to aid in the preparation of nursing students for professional careers. It is open to all nursing students and allows for interaction with each other as well as faculty members. Guest speakers discuss topics related to nursing and the various fields of nursing practice at meetings scheduled throughout the academic year.
Student Ambassadors: Ambassadors serve as representatives of the Nursing student body at official School and University functions. They interact with potential students; current nursing students, faculty, and staff; nursing alumnae; and dignitaries from Purdue, the local community, and beyond.
Nurses Christian Fellowship: The Nurses Christian Fellowship is a division of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. The main purpose of NCF is to advocate quality nursing care that includes the spiritual dimension. NCF aims to deepen and strengthen the spiritual lives of nursing students by the study of the Bible, by prayer, and by Christian fellowship. Membership is open to any student who has been admitted to the School of Nursing.
Nursing Students Without Borders (NSWB): The NSWB mission... To promote health empowerment through education, build networks to access health care resources, and distribute material donations to developing world communities, while expanding the perspective of the nursing student.
NSWB is a student-run organization working on international health initiatives. The majority of our members are nursing students, but health care professionals and other community members also contribute, according to a project's need. The initial NSWB chapter was founded in 1999 at the University of Virginia.
Minority Student Nurses' Association (MSNA): The purpose of the MSNA is to provide support and encouragement for minority students in nursing as well as other minority students who plan to enter the nursing profession. Membership is open to any student who has been admitted to the School of Nursing.
Boilermaker Assembly of Men in Nursing (BAMN): BAMN provides a communication link among the men in the school of nursing and disseminates information of concern to men in nursing as a whole; acts as the official voice of male nursing students at Purdue and serves as a representative on the School of Nursing Student Council; provides a medium through which members can express their opinions on nursing issues, and in particular, issues that affect men in nursing.
Sigma Theta Tau International is the honor society of nursing, which recognizes superior achievement and the development of leadership qualities, fosters high professional standards, encourages creative work, and strengthens commitment to the ideals of the profession. Invitations are extended to junior and senior undergraduate students, graduate students, and community leaders in nursing. The Purdue University chapter is Delta Omicron.
