Student Life

World's Largest Drum   Jahari dance troupe

In addition to all the other athletic and cultural activities of a Big 10 University campus, nursing students can find plenty of activity within the School of Nursing.

At the beginning of each year, the School of Nursing Student Council sponsors a "Mentor-Mentee" event. The program pairs new or transfer students "mentees" with upperclass "mentors" who provide them with help, support, and friendship.

Nurses light up the world

Later in the fall, it's time for Purdue's Homecoming festivities. Nursing students can participate in the Homecoming Parade, the displays on the Mall, and cheer on the Boilers at the football game.

Each year the Nursing Student Council also sponsors a formal Nurses Ball, where you and your friends can dance the night away in the elegant Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms. For more photos, click here.

Nursing students can also expand their horizons at two on-campus nursing conferences each year. The Conference on Nursing History, Ethics, and Human Rights in the fall and the Helen R. Johnson Leadership Conference in the spring bring nationally-known speakers to campus.

School of Nursing graduates are honored in a Senior Recognition Ceremony on the day of commencement. Nursing faculty and staff, as well as family members and friends, are invited to celebrate with the seniors at this special event. The highlight of the ceremony is the presentation of the Purdue University School of Nursing pin to each graduating senior.
