Lifelong Learning

Dr. Patricia Coyle-Rogers, Director of Lifelong Learning
Disseminate information about recent developments in the field of nursing through Lifelong Learning programs (Mission Statement, 2002) is a mainstay of the mission and vision for Purdue University School of Nursing and Purdue University Continuing Nursing Education (PUCNE).
We believe that all nurses have a responsibility to be self-directed, to grow both personally and professionally. They must contribute to the advancement of nursing science by creating a milieu that fosters lifelong learning and scholarly endeavors in graduates and faculty (Strategic Plan, 2002).
As nurses assume leadership roles in the health care system, they must strive to contribute to the improvement of nursing as a profession through innovation, evaluation, and participation in continuing nursing education activities that are both professionally and scientifically relevant.
All nursing faculty and as well as nursing administration is committed to providing appropriate continuing nursing education to enhance professional practice. Our Strategic Plan (2002) operationalizes our goal clearly. We strive to provide offerings that meet the professional development, continuing education, and lifelong learning needs of nurses and other healthcare professions in Indiana and beyond.
