Giving to the School of Nursing

Dear Alumni and Friends of the School of Nursing,

Just a few short weeks ago, the School graduated another class of outstanding Purdue Nurses. As we enter the summer months, the clamor of the students has gone down, but the planning still continues. We have had a wonderful year as we raised over $265,000! Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

There are many accomplishments to celebrate over this past fiscal year. The 2008-2009 senior class had the highest participation rate for the Senior Class Difference Campaign. More than 51% of the seniors gave back in order for the School to move forward. The seniors decided to use the funds collected to purchase an informational monitor to display all the student updates within the School of Nursing. Not only does this allow for a high-tech way to distribute information, but it also saves on the use of paper products used to post flyers. I hope you get a chance to see their impact on the school sometime in the near future.

We also celebrated Connie Hoffer (AAS '81, BSN '83) and her husband Roger as Purdue Heroes for the volunteer work they do to help save lives. Please take the time to read their story by visiting this web page. Roger and Connie will be featured on the Big Ten Network for their diligent work. Gina Gregorczyk (BSN '08) was also nominated as a Purdue Hero.

Higher Education is not immune to the current economy as we too have had many struggles. Now more than ever, it is vital that our alumni and friends step up to show their support for the School of Nursing as we continue to teach these young men and women how to be proficient nurses. I urge you to please make your contribution to the School of Nursing as 53% of our budget comes from outside support such as private funding. It does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Please let us know if you are coming to visit this fall, we would like the opportunity to reconnect!

Hail Purdue!
