Nursing Center for Family Health

The Nursing Center for Family Health (NCFH), a nurse-managed clinic initiated by the Purdue University School of Nursing in the early 1980s, is located in Lyles-Porter Hall on the West Lafayette campus. The clinic is a valuable clinical site for students and faculty and also a model for similar clinics nationwide. The clinic provides health and wellness screenings, health education and assists in referrals for health related issues.

Today, nursing faculty and students provide various health promotion screenings.  Purdue retirees and their spouses are entitled to receive one wellness screening a year.  Screenings can also be scheduled by those in the community at a cost of $40.00 per screening.  NCFH offers expanded wellness screenings in collaboration with Purdue Public Health nursing students, Purdue Nurse Practitioner graduate students and Purdue Health and Kinesiology students. These expanded screenings include a brief health history with blood pressure, weight, height and body mass index. A finger stick is performed to check cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, glucose and a cardiac risk ratio.  Clients can then choose to schedule a full body skin cancer screening and complete of a fitness assessment. The clinic is able to assist a client in an immunization review, answer questions in regards to health issues and provide referrals to local health providers.

Additional screening or monitoring activities may also be scheduled and are available at a modest fee. Individuals needing access to primary healthcare may call one of the school’s nurse-managed clinics in Delphi, (765) 564-3016, or Monon, (219) 253-2404.

Appointments are necessary for all examinations, consultations, and laboratory tests. Payment is due at time of services (cash or check made out to Purdue University). We do not file insurance or accept Medicare or Medicaid. Prices are subject to change.

The Nursing Center for Family Health does NOT provide emergency care, such as chest pain, bleeding, premature labor, or trauma. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
